I think it's a combination of watching the Iranian people as they struggle for more freedom, and as my daughter learns and asks more questions about our own nation's birth that I've become much more sentimental this Independence Day. While you learn about the Revolutionary War as a kid, the amazing courage and strength exhibited by those patriots of long ago can not be understood until you're an adult. It's only after you realize how much they risked, how much they had to lose by going against the King, that you truly appreciate how lucky we are that 233 years ago we declared our independence. So on this day of fireworks and barbecues, take time to remember and give thanks to all of those that came before us and helped create this great nation we call home.
